Casey Fowler | Head Coach

Lyon College Athletic Director Kevin Jenkins introduced Casey Fowler to be the new women's basketball head coach for the Scots.

"I am excited that Casey Fowler has agreed to become our new head women's basketball coach," Jenkins said. "Coach Fowler is very personable and I think he will bond well with the team we already have in place. I feel his love and knowledge of the game will keep our program competing at a high level. He will be a tremendous mentor and role model for our student-athletes plus he will provide great leadership for our program both on and off the court."

After playing at Drury University, Fowler joined the coaching staff at Drury as a student assistant before joining the United States Navy. He trained at the Naval Special Warfare (NSW) Center in Coronado, California and completed three deployments.

While in the military, Fowler broke three Guinness World Records in NBA Three-Point shooting.

After the military Fowler accepted the head women's basketball coaching position at Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri where he was restarted the women's intercollegiate program with a 16-9 record in their inaugural season.

Fowler accepted the head women's basketball coaching position at Arlington Baptist University in May of 2021 and they finished the 2021-2022 season 19-10 and runner-up at the NCCAA National Tournament.

Fowler comes to Batesville with his wife Cassie and sons Camden (3 years-old) and Cohen (two months-old).

"We are looking to build on and continue the success of the women's basketball program and bring an exciting brand of basketball to Batesville. GO SCOTS!"

Michael Peckham | Assistant Coach

Lyon College is pleased to announce the addition of Michael Peckham as the new Scots assistant women's basketball coach.

Peckham brings 42 years of administrative, coaching and teaching within interscholastic and collegiate athletic programs. He has a Master of Science in Athletic Administration degree with special emphasis on interscholastic athletics and professional development through completion of NIAAA Leadership training courses in Athletic Administration.

Peckham has coached six different high school basketball and track programs over a 31-year period. As a head basketball coach, he has won 857 games in his career. He has also been directly responsible for developing, coaching, recruiting and managing two Division I collegiate women's basketball programs in the Atlantic Coast Conference and The Big 10 conference.

For over 20 years in the Department Justice Federal Law Enforcement, while coaching, Peckham managed and developed a multi-athletic, recreational and wellness program for 4,000 federal inmates. His education includes getting his masters degree from Ohio University. He received a Mississippi Association of Independent Schools Administrative Certification while at Delta State University's College of Education and he holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Recreation Administration from the University of North Carolina, College of Leisure Studies.

In his career, Peckham was an assistant women's basketball coach for the University of Wisconsin and was the assistant women's basketball coach at the University of North Carolina. He was also the head basketball coach at Marianna Lee Academy in Clarksdale, Mississippi and Lee Academy in Marinanna, Arkansas, the head varsity basketball coach at Deer Creek School in Arcola, Mississippi and was the head basketball coach for the boy's varsity team at Manchester Academy in Yazoo City, Mississippi before returning to Deer Creek as the Assistant Athletic Director and head basketball/track coach.

He has been honored as Clarksdale Press Register 2019 Coach of the Year "Most Improved Program"; He was high school Coach of the Year by the MAIS in 2012, 2016 and 2017 in classes A, AA, and AAA. Peckham was the MAIS High School All-Star Coach in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2023 and has coached nine different teams to state tournaments. He was named to the University of North Carolina Women's Basketball 2010 Hall of Fame, coached Arkansas AAU from 1997 to 2006 with four championships and coached in five national tournaments.

Peckham was the 1998 head coach of the Arkansas Junior Olympic team that placed fifth overall in the nation, was named 1991 Top Ten Collegiate Basketball Recruiters by Sports Illustrated and has been to the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball tournament seven times. 

Peckham comes to Lyon from Lee Academy in Marianna with his wife Janet. He has four daughters; Samantha (35) of Raleigh, North Carolina, Kristen (33) from North Carolina, Jaimison (22) of Overland Park, Kansas, and Lexi Shea; and four grandchildren; Colton (5), Mason (3), Ava (newborn) and Peyton (newborn).
